Growing up in Sierra Leone and The Gambia, Ib, 27, first came to London aged 16. The pop culture and fashion imagery he was suddenly exposed to blew his mind. Ib went on to study fashion at Central Saint Martins, graduating 2016.
A photo exhibit at Somerset House titled ‘Utopian Voices Here and Now’ gave Ib his first big break. He says, ‘It got me excited about making art and gave me the space to imagine.’
Ib has gone on to work with photographer Tim Walker, artist and filmmaker Kahlil Joseph and musician Sampha, as well as Dazed, i-D, MoMA and Tate.
The stark contrast between Ib's childhood and life in London continues to fuel his imagination every day.
